Student life at Salesian Sixth Form is active and vibrant. There are many activities that students can get involved with each week which gives the Sixth Form Common Room a lively atmosphere. All students enjoy being part of a busy schedule with many enrichment opportunities and we are confident you will too.
In the Drama department we offer a number of opportunities outside of the normal timetable. In the Autumn Term we host the Upper School Play, which include titles such as Our Country's Good, 1984, The Great Gatsby and The 39 Steps. In addition, in the Spring Term we stage the annual School Production, which offers a diverse range of opportunities to students in all years groups. Previous productions include The School of Rock, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Shrek and The Addams Family.
Our Drama enrichment students also have the opportunity to get involved with our annual talent show 'Salesian Showcase' as well as running workshops with local primary school children.
The HCPT Pilgrimage to Lourdes is one of Salesian College’s most cherished traditions, and it’s so much more than just a residential!
Each year, our Lower Sixth students take part in a unique week of service, supporting disabled children on a life-changing journey. It’s an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, discover new strengths, and make a real difference in someone else’s life.
But it’s not all work — the evenings are a chance to unwind, bond with friends, and enjoy the experience together as a group. It’s a week filled with laughter, reflection, and moments that stay with you long after you return.
If you’re ready to challenge yourself, grow as a person, and be part of something truly meaningful, we hope you’ll join us next year.
Mentors support, guide and act as a role model for younger members of the College. There are two forms of mentoring: Pastoral Mentoring and Academic Mentoring:
Pastoral Mentoring: you are assigned to a Year 7-9 pupil and monitor his work/organisation skills/homework etc.
Academic Mentoring: you are assigned to a particular subject of your choice to support the teacher. This can be at Key Stage 3 or GCSE depending on your preference and the needs of the department concerned.
At Salesian College, your Sixth Form journey is more than just academic — it’s a global experience.
As part of the largest educational teaching order in the world, our students have access to incredible international opportunities. Through our Salesian partnerships, you could take part in:
An exchange programme with the Salesian Institute in Barcelona
An education initiative with our partners in Zambia
International tours and collaborations with Salesian communities across Europe
Our Sixth Form students also enjoy subject-specific trips that bring learning to life:
Business, Economics & Politics: Absorb the sights and sounds of New York!
Physics: Explore cutting-edge science at CERN in Switzerland
French & Art: Immerse yourself in language and culture in Paris
Classics: Discover ancient history in Rome and Greece
History: Reflect on the past with visits to Berlin
Geography: Experience natural wonders in Iceland
Volunteering: Join the HCPT Pilgrimage to Lourdes
Whether you're passionate about science, languages, humanities, or volunteering, Salesian Sixth Form offers you the chance to broaden your horizons and make memories that will last a lifetime.
There are many sporting extra-curricular activities on offer in the Sixth Form including football, rugby, netball and cricket teams which compete in competitions across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire. Furthermore Salesian College participates in the ISA swimming gala and cross-country.
The College offers a strong enrichment programme on a Wednesday afternoon which uses the magnificent facilities at Surrey Sports Park for rock climbing, spinning, circuit training and boxercise.
This residential involves all our lower sixth students in outdoor team-building and bonding activities designed to challenge them. The students return having forged new friendships and strengthened existing ones. With our emphasis on community and working together at Salesian College, our lower sixth students return confident and energised for the challenges of life in the Sixth Form.
Every year, a group of Sixth Form students from Salesian College take part in a life-changing volunteering experience in Zambia, supporting projects funded through our school charity, SHARE.
This programme gives you the chance to contribute to meaningful initiatives, including:
The Porridge Club – providing a daily meal to hundreds of children who might otherwise go without.
City of Hope – a safe and supportive centre for vulnerable girls and young women, offering education and care.
Scholarship Programme – helping young people access education and opportunities that steer them away from crime and towards a brighter future.
This is a chance to grow, connect, and make a real impact. You’ll return with unforgettable memories, new perspectives, and a deeper understanding of global issues and your own potential to help solve them.
CAFOD, the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, recognizes that young people can make a difference in society. The CAFOD Young Leadership Programme offers students the opportunity to lead and make a difference by meeting new people and being given the opportunity to gain confidence, skills and experience. Throughout the year you will receive training in developing several leadership skills such as team building, project management, problem solving, presentation and communication. You will also gain a deeper understanding of CAFOD and its mission, vision and values.
At the end of the academic year you will receive a certificate to show you have completed the programme, listing the skills you have covered.
