The College has an extensive PE and Sport programme. All boys in Year 7 will have a Games afternoon (2 lessons) and a single PE lesson each week. During these lessons, boys will have the opportunity to improve their skills in all the major team and individual sports as well as improving their own personal fitness level. There will also be a swimming course at Farnborough Leisure Centre for each form group during the year.
Competitive fixtures are played in sports such as football, rugby, cross-country, athletics, biathlon, swimming, golf, skiing and basketball with success at district, county, regional and national level. Last year 210 games of football were played as an example of the huge amount of sport available to students which saw 258 students represent the College. The College won 36 titles at various levels last year in numerous sports, including for the first time in College history the Year 7 football squad remaining unbeaten in winning the district league and cup and the Hampshire schools county cup!
At the end of each year, a special Sports Awards Presentation is held in the College hall, to recognise the outstanding sporting achievement across the year at the College. It recognises individual performances and team success from both boys and girls throughout the College. Each sport has colours awarded to those students who have been consistent performers and have contributed to the sport throughout the year.
There are school sports events to look forward to such as the annual swimming gala, badminton championships and Sports Day, as well as numerous Inter House events across a wide range of sports that all students can take part in.
On Saturdays throughout the year we have rugby, football and cricket matches against local schools which give all students the chance, if selected, to represent Salesian College. This year we have fielded B teams in all Years from 7-10, as well as A teams, giving a very large number of boys the chance to represent the College. Supporters are always welcome to attend both home and away fixtures.
