Charitable Work

At Salesian College, we take great pride in fostering a strong sense of compassion, service, and social responsibility among our students. Throughout the academic year, pupils are actively involved in a wide range of charitable initiatives that support both local and international causes. These opportunities not only enrich their educational experience but also help them develop empathy, leadership, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

From sponsored events and creative fundraising challenges to seasonal collections and community fairs, our students regularly demonstrate their generosity and enthusiasm. Recent activities have included fun runs, football tournaments, bake sales, car washes, and themed dress-up days, all organised by students across different year groups. Sixth Form students often take the lead in coordinating events, supported by staff and parents, and younger pupils eagerly participate in form-led and house-based initiatives.

Over the past year, the College community raised over £20,000 for a wide variety of charities, including CAFOD, Save the Children, Step by Step, the Sean Devereux Children’s Fund, St John’s Ambulance, the RNLI, and many more. Our Christmas Fayre and food collections were particularly successful, bringing together students, staff, and families to support those in need during the festive season.

Whether it’s through a sleep-out to raise awareness of homelessness, helping run stalls at school fairs, or taking part in Lent-inspired service activities, every student is encouraged to contribute in their own way. These experiences are a vital part of life at Salesian College, helping to instil values that last well beyond their time with us.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment and creativity our students show in supporting charitable causes. Their efforts reflect the spirit of our College and the values we strive to uphold. We look forward to continuing this important work and welcoming even more families into our vibrant and caring community.
