SHARE
Zambia
Originally started as a college project in Farnborough, SHARE has evolved into a UK-based charity dedicated to raising funds for aid and development work in Zambia.
SHARE's mission is to cultivate young people who are articulate, informed, and personally engaged advocates for the developing world. These advocates and supporters raise funds to support several critical projects in Zambia. They have identified that for Zambia to become less dependent on foreign aid in the long term, it is essential to enhance local skill sets. The key to achieving this is education.
SHARE addresses extreme poverty, the lack of schools, and the shortage of teaching staff through three ongoing projects: the Porridge Club, City of Joy, and the Scholarship Programme.
Sean Devereux Children's Fund
Run for Sean
Sean Devereux, a former student of our College, dedicated his life to teaching and supporting children, primarily in Liberia. Tragically, he was assassinated in Somalia in 1993 while working on a UNICEF food distribution program, continuing his mission to aid those in desperate need amidst civil war.
To honor his memory and continue his work, the Sean Devereux Children's Fund (SDCF) was established by his family. The fund supports the education of children in Liberia through sponsorship programs and fundraising events. Our College contributes to this cause through various events, including the Year 7 Run for Sean and the College's Quiz Night.
HCPT
Pilgrimage to Lourdes
HCPT is a registered charity dedicated to providing pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes, located in the south of France, for disabled and disadvantaged individuals from the UK and beyond. Each Easter, approximately 1,000 children with disabilities and disadvantages experience a joyful and secure week in Lourdes, staying in hotels with the support of their volunteer helpers.
Since 1992, students and staff from Salesian College have actively participated in the HCPT Easter Pilgrimage. During our time in Lourdes, our primary role is to assist regional groups in need of additional helpers. We also contribute by organizing events, performing administrative tasks, and supporting the trust in various capacities.
