ICT

The ICT Department and all formalised ICT throughout the College is taught by two members of staff who are highly experienced in many areas of ICT provision.

The Department has two well equipped computer suites. Both rooms have been refurbished, including new computers and interactive whiteboards.   Pupils each have a web based mailbox and are also able to access the college network from home, or anywhere where the internet is available.

ICT is taught as a distinct subject at Key Stage 3, and in Year 9 all pupils commence this course so that by the end of Year 10 they have attained a GCSE qualification. There is also the opportunity to students to sit an advanced course in one year throughout Year 11.   The practical element of the GCSE course includes learning how to use a range of software, including spreadsheets and database programs. Other Word Processing and Desktop Publishing programs are utilised to create a wide range of resources during lesson time and beyond.   The Theory element of the GCSE course includes the use of ICT in business, e.g. email, hardware and software for example.

In the VIth Form there is the opportunity to take the AQA AS/A2 in ICT. Each of the four units consist of Practical Problem Solving, Living in the Digital World, The Use of ICT and a coursework element, which we believe fully equips each student in the basics of ICT provision enabling them to take greater steps in ICT awareness in Year 11 and beyond.

Please feel free to browse the images of some of our ICT facilities through the 'Photo Tours' tab on the left hand side of this screen.
