The Maths Department is staffed by six highly experienced teachers within a dedicated Maths suite in the Blackburn Building. All classrooms have full internet access, interactive whiteboards and access to PC suites in order that students can avail themselves of the specialist Maths software.

At Key Stage 3, all students follow a challenging syllabus, and benefit from setting from Year 8 onwards. This is ideal preparation for the Key Stage 4 Edexcel GCSE, which is taken by all students.

Results in Maths are consistently outstanding and are a testament to the hard work of the staff and the motivation of the pupils. At AS/A2, students again take the Edexcel Maths Syllabus. There is a large uptake in the Sixth Form with a small number opting to take Further Maths. Results are again exceptional.

In terms of extended learning opportunities, pupils have access to the Maths Workshop, which is offered every lunchtime, many are entered into the numerous Maths Challenges throughout the course of the year, with some going to the British Maths Olympiad. All students have a Mathletics account, which as well as giving opportunities for extended learning, consolidation and support in the subject, also gives students the enjoyable opportunity to compete mathematically against students worldwide, on-line.

Students enjoy the opportunity to attend lectures at local universities and classes also take part in World Maths Days.
