Physics
Physics is taught in specialist laboratories by three experienced staff and assisted by a dedicated lab technician. The classrooms are purpose built and have full access to the Internet through Interactive Whiteboards and a dedicated suite of PCs.
The Key Stage 3 Schemes of Work include topics that focus upon the solar system, solids, liquids and gases and also have ample opportunities for research and project work. At GCSE, pupils follow the Edexcel 360 Science course, which leads to the AS/A2 Level course also offered by Edexcel. Physics remains one of the College’s most popular subjects at both GCSE and A Level, and departmental results are exceptionally high.
In addition, the Physics department also provides a number of opportunities for greater challenge and learning including the GCSE Physics Challenge, Top of the Form Competitions, The British Physics Olympiad and various trips and excursions, notably to the INTECH Science Centre and CERN.
