Registration and Admissions Procedure
The normal age for entry to Salesian College is 11. Occasionally boys are admitted at other times provided that a vacancy exists. Parents or guardians may register their sons at any time but by 30th November at the latest before the year of intended entry. Applications from girls are warmly invited for a place in the Salesian College Co-educational Sixth Form. Details and applications forms for entry at any stage are available on request from the College, contactable on firstname.lastname@example.org. The telephone number for the College Reception is (01252) 893000. To view the College's Prospectus, please click here.
The entrance examination is held at Salesian College in the January of the year of entry. At 11, the test currently consists of written papers in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning. Entry for older age-groups may include all additional paper in Science. Boys are admitted on the basis of this examination and a confidential report from the Headteacher of your son's present school. For boys who are abroad, we can arrange for the test to be taken in their current school. It is not the policy of the College to issue past papers, but more detailed information on the examination is available on request.
Sixth Form Entry
A separate Sixth Form Prospectus is available on request. Following all interview with the Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster, students wishing to enter the Sixth Form also meet the Head of Sixth Form and the Heads of Department of their proposed A level subjects. Acceptable candidates will be provisionally offered a place, subject to satisfactory GCSE grades being achieved. For students currently at the College, an interview is held with the Headmaster. A place is then offered in the Sixth Form subject to a satisfactory record at the College and the student achieving the minimum academic requirements set out in the Sixth Form Prospectus.
