Salesian win U12 Camberley Rugby Tournament

On Monday 3 October, Salesian College U12 rugby team took part in the U12 Camberley Rugby Tournament at Camberley Rugby fields. Six teams attended the event and Salesian were placed in the same group as St John Baptist, Woking School and Collingwood. After a tough encounter against St John Baptist where a last minute try won Salesian the game 15-10, they stepped up a gear in the second game where they dominated the match and beat Collingwood 25-0.
Salesian progressed into the semi-finals where they faced Woking High School. The forwards were fantastic and set the tone whilst the backs blew the opposition away. The final score was 30-5.
The final saw Salesian play Gordon’s who we had met in the final the previous year. Salesian started slowly and at half-time found themselves 5-0 down. After a few home truths during the half time team talk by Mr Bunyan the boys came out and scored a try in the first few minutes of the second half. A further three tries resulted in Salesian winning the final 20-5 and lifting the U12 trophy for the third time in the last four years.
Congratulations to the following that represented the College: (Number of tries in brackets)
Adam Leatherdale (2), Benjamin Shefras (1), Luke Bull (1), Joshua Lane (1), Dominic Parfitt, Daniel Weston (4), Sean Hayes (2), Jake Stone (2), Joshua Wyke (3), Toby Patston (2), Henry Bolden and Jonathan Charles.
