Salesian take 26 gold medals at the ISA London West Swimming Championships!

On Thursday 3 November, Salesian College won 26 gold medals and retained both the Senior boys trophy (for the seventh year running) and the overall boys winners (for the third year running) at the ISA London West Swimming Championships. A team of 19 boys and four girls took part in the Championships which was held at the Aldershot Garrison Swimming Pool. After some hard races in the 200 IM’s with Sarah Hearn (2nd), Justin Hanson (2nd) and Elliot Broad (3rd) the team won its first gold medal of the day with Elliott de Landro in the 50m breaststroke. The medals continued with Adam Morgan and Justin Hanson securing first place finishes in their respective breaststroke races. Jenny Hudec finished second in the girls breaststroke and George Hopwood finished fourth in his race, which was an excellent achievement as he was swimming an age group up.
In the backstroke Toby Patston, Jacob Webb and Matthew Barter won gold and Richard Allen finished second in his race. The freestyle saw Guy Nicklinson and Kirsten Brown both finish in a strong third place in their races. Connor West won gold and both Elliot Broad and Rebecca Fisher finished runners-up in very quick races. The butterfly saw Elliot de Landro and Alex Hayes finish second, however, Oliver Broad, Harrry Hudson and Rebecca Fisher all won gold – a brilliant achievement!
In the freestyle relay Salesian dominated with Toby Patson, Elliot de Landro, William Raynsford and Guy Nicklinson flying to victory in the Year 7 race. The Year 8 team of Connor West, Adam Morgan, Jacob Webb and Oliver Broad matched this success with a dominant gold medal performance. The Year 9 and 10 team of Elliot Whiteman, Elliot Broad, Matthew Barter and George Williams also won gold in the freestyle relay. To complete the amazing success the Senior team of William Gallagher, Richard Allen, Owen Wagstaff and Justin Hanson stormed to success and gold in the final race of the day in the pool, race seventy!
A special mention for the girls team of Rebecca Fisher, Kirsten Brown, Jenny Hudec and Sarah Hearn who all performed well in both their individual and the relay (finishing third), a great day all round for the Swimmers at the College, very well done!
