HCPT Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2011

On Easter Sunday 61 Sixth Form students accompanied by 32 students from Alton Convent began their journey to Lourdes to take part in the HCPT (Handicapped Children’s Pilgrimage Trust) pilgrimage. Their journey involved a coach, a trip on the Eurostar, an overnight experience on a couchette train followed by another coach! Arriving in Lourdes at 8.30 Monday morning, everyone was set straight to work. The week involved a range of activities, most notably working with young children to give them a week of fun filled memories, (and many painted faces!) All students participated in the torchlight procession with Conor Ketley taking a lead role in carrying the cross and leading the entire procession of 8000 people. The Trust Mass on Thursday morning was also a highlight with all members of HCPT joining together for a memorable celebration.
A special thanks to all the staff that gave of their time to share in this special trip and particularly to Fr Pat Sherlock, the group Chaplain, for his good humour and ability to put a smile on everyone’s face!
