Salesian win Year 7 District Cup Final!

On Tuesday 3 May, the College’s Year 7 Football team won the
Salesian substitutes Rory Chiplin, Michael Try and Spencer Wynn all came on to add some fresh legs and impetus and one run from Michael Try down the right wing nearly opened the scoring for Salesian. With the impressive Conor Fitzmaurice dominating in the middle and being a real driving force in the Salesian midfield, the breakthrough happened. A ball down the left was partially cleared and was picked up by Louie Gilpin who beat his man and hit a right-footed shot from 10 yards that flew past the Tomlinscote goalkeeper and into the net off the underside of the bar to send Salesian players, management and supporters wild with excitement! With seconds to go Rory McMichael thought he had doubled the lead but a linesman's flag ruled out the effort. Although Salesian were not to be denied and after 2 minutes of injury time was played the whistle went and Salesian had won the Year 7 cup for the first time in 38 years!
