Trip to Seville

At 3 a.m. on Monday 21 February 45 boys and five members of staff met at school to fly to Málaga airport, whence they visited Córdoba to see the famous Mezquita before heading on to Seville for three days of sightseeing. Visits were paid to the Archive of the Indies, the Alcázar, the Museo de Bellas Artes, the Plaza de Toros and Seville Cathedral, the largest in the world, and its neighbouring minaret, the Giralda. Three fine meals including tapas proved popular, and an evening of Flamenco at the Patio Sevillano offered a flavour of a distinct and vibrant culture of Andalucía. Perhaps the highlight was the visit to the Salesian College at Triana, where the boys made friends with their counterparts by putting their Spanish language skills to practical use. The warm sun was a tonic for all and the hospitality we enjoyed was exceptional. Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Wilson and Mr and Mrs Reeve who so ably assisted Mr Smith.
