English Schools’ National Cross-Country Finals

On Friday 25 March 2011 six boys, Mr Bunyan and Mr Wilson made the long journey up to Northumberland where the boys represented the College at the English Schools’ National Cross Country Finals at Alnwick Castle.
The U16 intermediate boys consisted of over 150 runners from 24 different schools. Toby Starling (3rd) and Richard Allen (5th) led the Salesian efforts from the start. Owen Wagstaff (38th) and Michael Gregory (86th) were outstanding making up the top four with a score of 132 points. William Davidson (117th) and Daniel Lloyd (131st) also worked extremely hard in what was a very tough race and special mention should go to Daniel as he was running one year group up.
Overall, out of 24 schools, Salesian College finished in 3rd place which was an unbelievable effort from all of the boys. The College was the best Catholic School in the country and there were a lot of Catholic Schools competing in this age category. In the U16 age category we are now ranked the 3rd best in the country.
Another outstanding achievement by the College and congratulations to those boys who took part.
