Lower Sixth Geography Trip

On Saturday 16 October, 21 Lower Sixth geography students completed a very successful three day residential fieldwork course based in West Somerset. The main focus involved surveying the River Holford from source to mouth, which proved to be quite difficult due to the abnormally dry autumn weather. The students worked in small groups to collect and then analyse their data. This fieldwork forms the basis of the first module of the A Level course taken in January. The students also completed an urban study of three contrasting residential areas, including the picturesque village of Dunster and a comparison of two distinct coastal management strategies. This was a very busy, but thankfully sunny weekend, which the students enjoyed and gained a lot from.
