Presentations on drugs and alcohol awareness

On Monday 29 November the College held a series of drugs education presentations for pupils and parents. These form part of the College's PSHE programme and are a key component of the drugs policy ensuring that pupils are educated about these important issues. 

The presentations were led by Mr Bob Tait of Drugs Education UK (DRED UK) who has visited the College a number of times in recent years to speak to the pupils and most recently, at the start of the academic year, to the staff. He addressed Years 8 through to the Sixth Form on a variety of issues connected to substance misuse, the law, refusal skills and the consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. The talks were specifically tailored to suit the various age groups and the pupils were full of enthusiasm for the engaging manner in which they were presented.

In the evening there was an additional talk to parents which was very well attended and, once again, there was a great deal of positive feedback regarding the value of Mr Tait's presentation. Many thanks to the PTA who provided the refreshments.
