Historic Match ends in victory for Salesian College!

On Wednesday 24 November, Salesian College competed against Fernhill School in the first ever game of netball for Salesian College.  It was a hard fought game from the start with the scoring tight early on.  Emma Yeoman had a great game at Centre for Salesian and with Daniella Richardson showing quick hands and good movement, Salesian built up an early lead with Sageera Thavendrarajan and Kirsten Brown proving scoring many points for the Salesian team.

Rebecca Fisher and Nuala Wheatley provided plenty of opportunities for Salesian to score and with Katherine Morris and Nicola Desmidt working hard in defence, chances were limited for Fernhill.  Evelyn Ball and Chiemeka Okeke were also supporting the Salesian ethos of hard work and determination.  The score was very tight late into the fourth quarter, with Salesian holding a 7-6 lead.  The skill and excellent defence of the Salesian team enabled them to hold on for victory.  The girls that played will go down in history as the young ladies that recorded success in the first ever game of netball at the College.

Player of the Match: Emma Yeoman – a fantastic performance.

Coach Mrs Godden commented on her young stars ‘the effort the girls put in and team-work they all displayed gave Salesian every reason to feel very, very proud’.
