Southern Schools Biathlon Championships

On Sunday 21 November, 17 boys from Years 7-13 competed in the Southern Schools Biathlon Championships at the Mountbatten Leisure Centre in
In Year 7, Adam Morgan, Oliver Broad and Rhys Holifield led the College to a positive start and William Parsons, William Loten, Matthew Jones and Alexander Fraser showed great determination. In Year 8, the boys demonstrated excellent commitment with a very encouraging performance from George Hopwood. Kelvin Smith and William Hooper. In Year 9, Elliot Broad, Reade Whiteman and Samuel Gallagher made an excellent start to the competition and Christopher Parsons, George Williams and Edward Smith also applied themselves very well. In Year 10, Richard Allen took 1st place in his event with Owen Wagstaff in 3rd place. In Years 11 and 12, William Fuller and William Gallagher competed in a tough race very well and finished in the middle of the pack.
At the swimming pool, the boys really excelled with fantastic performances from Oliver Broad. Adam Morgan, Elliot Broad, Reade Whiteman and Richard Allen. But the most noticeable performance was Justin Hanson who beat his personal best.
The presentations took place later in the day with Adam Morgan (4) Oliver Broad (5) and Rhys Holifield (12) which meant that the Year 7’s won the team event. The medals and trophies kept coming as Elliot Broad came 1st in the Year 9 individual event. However, with Reade Whiteman (4) and Samuel Gallagher (12) it meant that the Year 9’s won the team event too. This success continued with the Year 10’s winning the team event as well. Richard Allen won the individual event with Owen Wagstaff (3) and Justin Hanson (6). In Year’s 11 and 12, William Fuller came (5) and now moves on to the semi-finals and Samuel Gallagher came 7th in a very competitive field.
