Tucker inspired Salesian roar to second straight victory!

Salesian College’s Year 10 cricket team continued their successful start to the season with a fantastic 8 wicket win over a very powerful Reading Blue Coat side.  After beating Claire’s Court last week by 45 runs with 50s from openers Jordan Foley and Alex Williamson and 4 wickets from Alex Bolt, the team had a very hard match against Blue Coats.

Inspired by a very impressive opening spell from fast bowlers Joe Byrne and George Packer who both took a wicket apiece but could have shared 5 or 6 easily with a little more fortune Blue Coats struggled to score quickly enough.  With wickets falling at regular intervals Blue Coats posted 90 for 7 off 20 tight overs from the Salesian attack.  Alex Bolt continued his mighty fine start to the season with 2 more wickets to take his tally to 6 in 2!  Furthermore Jordan Foley and Alex Hayes bowled tight spells.

The team talk from the coach was solid start: '...get yourself in and then express yourself!' After the early loss of Alex Williamson to a magnificent catch at third man Jordan Foley and captain Ben Tucker rebuilt the innings.  Blue Coats were bowling excellent lines and it was hard to score on a damp wicket.  However, Foley and Tucker did a super job until Foley was run out for 21 by a direct throw in the covers.  This inspired Ben Tucker though and he teed off hitting 3 magnificent Tendulkar like 6’s – quite awesome!  Alex Bolt promoted to 4 then saw the team home with his captain to secure a fine win, well done to all!!

Man of Match – Ben Tucker – 57 not out!
