UK Chess Challenge

During the Spring term 20 boys signed up for the UK Chess Challenge 2010, the world’s largest chess tournament for school age pupils. The school round involves a seven match tournament to decide which players reach the qualifying standard for the Hampshire finals in May. After seven weeks of competition, the following 11 boys proved eligible for the county finals:
U12: 7St. Dunstan's Daniel Bamber, Edward Grosvenor, Alex Millard
7St. Hughs Harry Till
U13: 8St. Aidan's Ben Rothwell
8St. Hugh's Kumar Dixit, Harry Punter
U14: 9St. Aidan's Scott Leadbetter
U15: 10St. Dunstan's Christopher Hawes
U18: William O’Donovan, Tommy Wilson
William O’Donovan finished as the school champion on 20 points, closely followed on 19 by Kumar Dixit.
