ISA National Athletics Championships
Wednesday 23 June 2010 –
Following their respective successes at the
Our fourth finalist was always a strong bet. Amongst his many accomplishments, Harvey Dixon was the reigning ISA record holder for the year 10 and 11 1500m and so must have been confident. He ran several seconds less than both the record and his own PB to win by a good 100m. Our middle distance dominance continued with Richard Allen winning the year 8 and 9 1500m and setting a new championship record followed by Toby Starling winning the 800m at the same age group. In between these races, Jack Bull had secured the bronze medal in the 400m as well. Harry Newton and Sam Peddie were out of the medals in the Long Jump and 800m respectively for year 7 but Harry did win gold as part of the 4x100m relay team at the end of the day. 8 athletes, 8 medals! Excellent work by all of the boys on a very hot day!

Aldershot & District Schools’ Junior Athletics Championships
Thursday 24 June 2010 – Palmer Park,
Salesian College performed very well at the Junior District Athletics Championships, with some boys performing the day before in Bedford, there were some really tired legs on the bus as 30 Salesian boys from Year 7 and 8 made the trip to Palmer Park, Reading. On a glorious day it was a case of keeping the fluid levels up and trying to find some shade when not performing!
In the Year 7 80m Harry Newton finished a creditable 4th place in a very fast final. James Martin recorded a very narrow victory in the 150m for 1st place and came off the track with a worried look until he was told he had won! Tom Field showed real promise in the 600m finishing 2nd with a very strong run. Henry Robinson finished 5th in the 1000m and looked tired after securing gold the day before in
The Year 8 team also worked very hard in the searing temperatures, track side over 30 degrees Celsius! Ross McMichael raced to victory in the 400m finishing 20 metres in front of his nearest rival, with Charles Mather coming 5th in the final. Oliver Leatherdale came 4th in the 1500m, and also won the high jump with a leap of 1.49m – fantastic jumping Oliver! Sebastian Charles leapt over 9.50m to secure silver in the triple jump. Joseph Barnett came 4th in the 75m hurdles final and Chris Bates finished 5th in the 200m final.
Well done gentlemen a huge effort, roll on the Inter Salesian Athletics Championships at the City of
