The Spring Term is always a busy term in the library! In addition to much lesson time use, the library has many activities extra to those normally running such as reading & working, solving Puzzle-a-Day and the playing of library puzzles & games when there is space and time from work. Students are now invited to ‘Challenge our Star’ Frame-It expert, Daniel Lee in 1 St Hughs!
We have had another Book Swap, of students’ unwanted books from home, and the Book Swap Box will be kept in the Library Office for students to use any time now.
Charles Wall has been added to our great team of Year 8 Student Librarians (Alex Head, Chris Hudec, Jim Brooker, Alex Graham, Richard Clegg, Harry Punter & Matt Williams).
On 26th – 27th February, a group of boys & staff will be taking part in the Library Sleepover to raise money for Mrs Mweete’s Porridge Club. There is room for a few more: places must be booked by 22nd Feb so please contact Mrs Honeywill or Mrs Wilson in the library as soon as possible to take up those places.
World Book Day on 4th March will be celebrated on the 3rd & 5th by Year 7 classes in their English lessons, writing joint stories with story bags! – prizes to be awarded! On World Book Day itself, a group of Yr7-9 Charlie Higson fans are going to Connaught School, Aldershot, to hear the author speak and have their books signed. Around Easter the Yr 7s will also Risk It for a Biscuit, in preparation for their ESB exams! The Carnegie group will soon be reconvening and new members will be invited to join us. At the end of term there will be the Easter Draw and a new Easter competition, details to be advertised after half term! A Languages Day is in the pipeline, too! There is much to look forward to and to keep us all fruitfully employed in the library!
