Salesian College ISA Cross Country Triple!

Boys from years 7-11 represented the College at the Independent School’s Association regional cross country championships for the London (west) area on Friday 5th February. Around 20 other schools were represented at the event which was hosted by Sherfield School.

The under 14 team were in good form having won the District Championship less than 2 weeks ago. The team consisted of 5 year 8 boys and 1 year 7 runner. They reproduced their strong form once again and won the first of the day’s trophies with some very strong performances and a real tussle between 3rd and 4th place going down to a sprint finish! The team were:

Oliver Leatherdale (3) – Henry Robinson (4) – Charlie Peffers (8) – Daniel Lloyd (14) – Daniel Bonnett (15) – Elliot Broad (17).

The under 16 team was made up of 4 year 9 boys and 1 year 10 runner. They too are the District Champions at under 15 and are potentially our strongest combination with talent in depth. The race was led throughout by Toby Starling who is in magnificent form this year and he was strongly supported by the others to take team trophy number 2! The team were:

Toby Starling (1) – Robert Hislop (3) – Richard Allen (9) – Owen Wagstaff (14) – Adam Cauldwell (20).

In the last race of the day the three man team of year 11 runners competed in the over 16 event for years 11,12 and 13. Harvey Dixon set a blistering pace and was soon hundreds of yards ahead of the rest of the field where James Kelly ran strongly to finish 3rd and, crucially, Freddie Marshall maintained a vital 12th place to secure an unprecedented third team victory at the Championships for the College.

Harvey Dixon (1) – James Kelly (3) – Freddie Marshall (12).

All of the runners who finished in the top 10 places in each age group will be invited to represent the London west region at the ISA National Championships on Friday 26th February at Princethorpe College.
