St Hugh's win Inter-House Chess Competition

Lunchtime Chess Club has been running throughout the term on Wednesdays and Thursdays and there have been regularly over 20 boys playing each day. It has been encouraging to see so many Year 7 players this year, with 28 now featuring in the Autumn League Table. This year’s Inter-House Chess Competition soon developed into a two-house race and the final order was; 4th place St Bede's, 3rd St Aidan's, 2nd St Dunstan's and this year's Inter-House Chess Champions, St Hugh's. Certificates have been presented to the runners up and the winning squad.

The organisers of the UK Chess Challenge 2011, the world’s biggest school based chess tournament awarded the College a certificate for our continuous involvement in the competition since 2002. Scott Leadbetter, the School Chess Captain, received the certificate on behalf of the College.
